With SAVs or self-autonomous vehicles becoming a reality, could it be paving way for a world where human drivers will no longer be needed? Policies are now being considered for the future of robotic cars on our highways. If you simply see driving as a means of getting from A to B then driverless cars may not bother you, you might think it's pretty amazing. But, for anyone that enjoys the pleasure of driving, perhaps it's all a little more worrying. However, if implemented well, driverless cars could cut out human error and save millions of lives.

It has been suggested that drivers may soon be banned from the 150 mile area of Interstate 5 between Vancouver and Seattle. Analysts predict that within five years there will be no cars with drivers in any major cities.

According to St. Louis car accident lawyer, technology really is headed this way. Think about it. Already, when you buy a new car these days, the technology levels are pretty robotic. Your car can brake by itself. It can also put you back on track automatically if you veer out of your lane. Just imagine, a commute to work without traffic jams.

Whether you like the idea or not, the future of robotic, self-driving cars is on the way. The US government has already proposed to invest four billion dollars for research into the needed infrastructure changes to make this a reality. The National Highway Safety Administration has put together a plan to aid with policy, safety, guidance and monitoring of driverless cars for the next 50 years. Their policies include lowering road deaths by 30,000 each year, and helping people who cannot drive to gain their mobility such as the disabled or the elderly.

The benefits

While you may one day have to give up driving yourself in favour of autonomous vehicles, it may bring with it many benefits. No longer will you need two cars in your household. You can simply take the car to work, then instruct it to go home to allow your wife to use it during the day. You won't have to get up in the morning to take the kids to school, you can simply send them to school in the car! If you are injured and cannot drive, or your eyesight starts to deteriorate with age, you'll still be able to get around.

Only time will tell how effective and useful these vehicles prove. In the meantime, if you are involved in a St. Louis car accident call (314) 361-4242 for a free consultation with an experienced attorney.
