Fed-Ex, Tour Bus Incident Lawsuits Begin Pouring In

Only about a month after a tragic bus and truck accident in Northern California, lawsuits are already pouring in. The cases all concern a crash between a FedEx truck and a bus. The collision killed 10 people and injured 34. Investigators have determined that the accident occurred when a FedEx truck crossed the median and slammed head-on into a tour bus that was filled with high school students. Lawsuit filers are hoping to target a party-at-fault for the accident and then seek compensation for injuries or wrongful death settlements.

The first lawsuit involving the crash was filed by a mother who lost her son in the collision. Her lawsuit lists the estate of the truck driver, who was killed in the crash along with FedEx as a whole. The reason that she is targeting both parties is because she believes that FedEx as an employer should be held liable for their employee's poor driving habits. The employee as well, while deceased, could pay through his lasting estate to the victim's mother.

A more recent lawsuit involves an 18-year-old student who was in the bus at the time of the collision. This plaintiff is seeking compensation from FedEx, the driver's estate, and the company that owns the bus that they were riding in. In this lawsuit, the plaintiff claims that the teen and other students had trouble escaping from the bus, which was engulfed in flames after the collision. This is because the emergency exits on the bus were inadequate and faulty.

He argues that he had to kick out a window in order to escape from the vehicle. This case may be notable, for if the bus company is liable, this could result in more lawsuits targeting Silverado Stages.
