Deadly Car Accident on Staten Island

A car accident on Staten Island proved deadly when one man was killed and several others were injured.

At around 9:45 p.m., 25-year-old Brian Pittsley was driving his Chevy Suburban with six teenage passengers inside when he ran a stop sign at Hylan Boulevard. The Suburban struck a Nissan Sentra driven by a 20-year-old, causing the Suburban to flip and crash into a nearby parked car, injuring several of the occupants. The driver, Pittsley, allegedly fled the scene before police arrived.

A witness to the accident saw the driver climb out of the Chevy and flee the scene. The witness decided not to pursue when he saw the many injured passengers laying in the intersection.

In total, 8 victims were injured and one 18-year-old was pronounced dead at the hospital. Several serious injuries were suffered including a partially severed arm and a shattered ankle.

The driver was caught later by authorities and now may face criminal charges.
